Rheumatoid Arthritis

What is Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a condition where your body’s immune system attacks the joints by mistake. This leads to pain, swelling, and stiffness—especially in the hands and feet. It can make everyday tasks harder over time and if untreated, can result in deformities.

How can I recognize it?

You might notice:

  • Pain and swelling in small joints, especially hands, wrists, and feet
  • Pain that is worse at rest and improves with activity
  • Morning stiffness lasting more than 30 minutes
  • Feeling tired or low on energy
  • Warm or tender joints
  • Trouble doing daily tasks like buttoning a shirt, opening jars or getting out of bed in the morning
